Titanic Victim Memorialized at Jamaica Plain's Forest Hills Cemetery

Fletcher Lambert Williams, whose body was never recovered, has a memorial marker on Cherry Avenue in Forest Hills Cemetery.

As the world commemorates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the great ship, there is at least one Jamaica Plain connection.

There is a monument to Titanic victim Fletcher Lambert Williams in Forest Hills Cemetery. His body was never found.

Williams was a first-class passenger on the doomed "unsinkable" ship, which sank the morning of April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg.

Williams, who was born in Roxbury, was the managing director of Mono Service Co. in England. The company made paper cups.

To find his marker, go to the intersection of Cherry and Hemlock Avenues inside the cemetery. Roughly, that's between Lake Hibiscus and the Tower Street exit. There is a map attached to this post.
