When Pigs Fly Bakery Is Open
The all-natural bread company opened its Jamaica Plain store on Saturday.
When Pigs Fly, an all-natural bakery specializing in bread, opened Saturday on Centre Street.
The opening was delayed from an originally-planned June date while the company simultaneously added a wood-fired pizzeria to their Kittery, Maine, location.
The breads are baked daily in York, Maine, an employee said.

Co-owner Ron Siegel had why they decided to open a store here.
“We chose Jamaica Plain for several reasons. First is we really like the town," Siegel wrote in an email. "We have had our bread for sale for several years at the Harvest Co-op and customers really like it. Jamaica Plain seems to be a community of down-to-earth people who enjoy good food. I know there is lots of competition and thats fine. I think that Jamaica Plain is certainly big enough for all of us."
Siegel said he thinks When Pigs Fly will be successful in JP because even though people have their favorites they prefer to have lots of choices.
