• Blue Devils fall just short in season opener (sentinelandenterprise.com) — Leominster sports fans saw the Blue Devils field hockey team drop a tight 2-1 season opener to Notre Dame at Doyle Field, despite strong play from goalie Meaghan Doucet and a tying goal by senior Hailey Jimenez. Coach Catherine Brow praised the largely new lineup's resilience and expects the squad to improve quickly as players gain more game experience together.
   

• 29 Worcester County students named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists (telegram.com) — A Leominster High School student, Alyssa Patel, has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, joining 28 other Worcester County students recognized for top PSAT scores. Local families can take pride that Leominster is represented in this prestigious national competition, which will award thousands of college scholarships next spring.
