1 in 4 Young People in Mass. Smoke Pot Monthly, Report Says
Rhode Island has the highest rate of marijuana use in the country, according to a Washington Post report.

One in four Massachusetts residents aged 18-25 smoke marijuana monthly, according to data compiled by the Washington Post.
For all Massachusetts residents over the age of 12, 9.4 percent smoke marijuana monthly. The national rate is about 7 percent. Rhode Island had the highest rate in the country at 13 percent.
The Post said it used data from the latest “National Survey on Drug Use and Health.”

Marijuana usage in Massachusetts is about a percentage point higher than two New England neighbors—Connecticut and Maine. Vermont’s rate is 12.9 percent.
