America's Safest Cities: Lexington Ranked Among Safest

NeighborhoodScout just released its list of America's safest and most dangerous cities.

LEXINGTON, MA—Lexington has been a very safe community for a long time, but how does it stack up to the safety of other communities in the country?

The answer? Pretty high. According to 2016 data published by NeighborhoodScout.com, Lexington was ranked as the 16th-safest city/town in the United States. Lexington also sits just behind Franklin (4), Shrewsbury(7), and Needham(12) as the fourth-safest town/city in the Commonwealth.

NeighborhoodScout considered cities in America with 25,000 or more people and the numbers are based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents.

According to the data, New Bedford was voted the most dangerous city in the Commonwealth, and East St. Louis, MO was voted as the most dangerous city in America. Ridgefield, CT was voted as America’s safest city in 2016.
