LEXINGTON, MA — Mosquitoes collected in Lexington have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The Town of Lexington released the following statement on the matter:
Mosquito season is not over in Massachusetts. Be sure you and your loved ones are taking precautions against mosquitoes!
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) announced on September 17, 2026, that West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito samples were found in Lexington, Waltham, and Provincetown. This announcement follows positive samples in several other neighboring communities this season.
Help protect yourself and your family from WNV by taking precautions such as wearing long sleeves and pants when spending prolonged time outdoors and applying mosquito-specific insect repellent.
