April Education Workshops at Wright-Locke Farm

Practical skills workshops for teens and adults in Winchester, MA

April marks the return of education programs at the farm, but not just for children- for teens and adults, too. Our educational workshops offer individuals the chance to take a hands-on approach to learning practical skills in the field or in the kitchen.

During our first workshop of the year, Confidence in the Kitchen: How to Cook with Tricky Vegetables (Wednesday, April 15 from 6-8pm), we’ll show you how to work with a selection of lesser-known but nutrient-dense vegetables often available at local farmers markets. There will be lots of cooking and tasting at this workshop- a great experience for anyone looking to feel more comfortable working with what the harvest season brings to the markets!

Later in the month, we’ll host our Home Composting Workshop (Sunday, April 26 from 10-11am) to discuss the many varied benefits of utilizing compost in the home garden while explaining the science behind its creation and best methods of composting depending on your location and needs. If you’re feeling up for it, stick around after the workshop to help out with spring farm chores with our farm staff and other volunteers.
