FOR THE BOSTON FUNDRAISER/SCREENING OF “A CULTURE OF SILENCE.”
Hello Everyone,
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
My production company Worldwide Cinema F R A M E S along with the New York City International Film Festival Non-Profit Foundation are putting together plans for a fundraiser to help assist children at risk of the culturally devastating practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). in Sierra Leone. We are hosting a fundraising event/ private screening of “A Culture of Silence,” a documentary feature film about the human condition and female genital mutilation in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The screening will be followed by a Q&A in a venue in Boston & NYC, where we will invite potential donors and human rights
organizations to take part in the discussion of how to abolish FGM.
The Boston Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 7:30PM at the Belmont Studio Cinema, located on 376 Trapelo Rd, Belmont, MA 02478.
There will be a red carpet reception and a private screening of the award winning documentary feature film “A Culture of Silence.” Cost per guest is $60.
We strongly recommend that admission
tickets be purchased in advance but they can also be purchased the day of the event, however availability is not guaranteed. Tickets can be purchased by visiting http://www.worldwidecinemaframes.com/about and by clicking on the Paypal “Donate” button. Upon donating you will receive an email confirmation
, which will be your admission ticket that evening, so please bring it with you.
The majority of the funds raised will be donated to The Amazonian Initiative Movement in Sierra Leone, a local NGO that is fighting to abolish the cultural practice of Female Genital Mutilation. The additional funds will be used to support the theatrical release of the film to position it for Academy Award nominations.
AIM, the Amazonian Initiative Movement, is a local NGO in Sierra Leone founded and directed by Rugiatu Neneh Turay, who is considered the most controversial woman in Sierra Leone, as a result of her efforts to abolish FGM and to publicly speak about the controversial cultural practice. AIM is currently building safe houses and private academic institutions to protect young girls at risk and seeks to implement sexual education for children and adults into the academic curriculum. AIM has made massive progress in rural areas of Sierra Leone. Our mission is to spotlight the efforts of AIM in Sierra Leone, ensure that donations are used to build more safe houses, feed and protect young girls at risk who have been displaced due to fear of being mutilated and to help inspire real change in Sierra Leone through the power of education
