Join us for the first of three Candlelight Garden Concerts this July at Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington. The Grammy Award winning Alastair Moock is joined by Sean Staples as they perform songs by the legendary John Prine and talk about his impact on their own song writing and musical life. Prine was one of the greatest song writers in the latter half of the 20th century and his impact on American music is immeasurable. With songs like Paradise and Angel in Montgomery, Prine was a songwriter’s songwriter and his work informed several generations of musicians. Come hear these two local legends sing their interpretations of these timeless songs.

Leaders 4SC is a summer workshop for middle school (rising 5th to 10th grade) students on writing and speaking, as well as leadership, communication, decision-making, and advocacy. Our goal is to train the next generation of civic leaders: members of a community who actively participate in society.<a href="https://leaders4sc.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">SIGN&nbsp;UP</a>
By the end of each week, students will have<ul><li>Completed at least one writing or speaking assignment arguing for and defending their opinion on any current issues</li><li>Participated in daily discussions and activities on a different major current event every day</li><li>Participated in daily task force activities to role play as key decision makers and stakeholder</li><li>Discussed, debated, and bonded with an incredible group of engaged young people! </li></ul>
