CALex joins Lexington's 40th Annual Discovery Day
CALex one of hosts among over 90 Lexington businesses and civic organizations
Saturday May 25, 2019, it was sunny and warm. The weather is perfect for one of the biggest events in Lexington: Discovery Day. This is also Memorial weekend, which officially marks the beginning of summer.
This year Lexington's Discovery day is 40th anniversary. Instead of locating the town parking lot behind Michelson's Shoes, it is on the Massachusetts Ave between Waltham street and Clarke Street. CALex, a local newly established non-profit Chinese American organization joined the event for the first time among over 90 local businesses and civic organizations. CALex has booth 93 which is located in the prime spot just across from main performing stage. It is also very lucky next to the booth of our very own state representative Michelle Ciccolo.
CALex booth attracts many visitors. The volunteers gave way many small gifts including CALex balloon, Chinese traditional and kids bookmark, cartoon prints etc. They also used card board to present many local civic events hosted by CALex. The Han Chinese traditional costume also attracted many people to try on. The demonstration of traditional costume is part of effort to introduce Chinese culture. The volunteers were also busy introducing the organization to everyone by giving away business cards, and helping people scan QR code to get more detail on the CALex website (https://calexma.org/). There were a number of local politicians and friends stopping by CALex booth to greet the volunteers.
