Community Endowment of Lexington Announces Leslie and Colin Masson Challenges

All gifts made to the Community Endowment of Lexington through Dec. 31, 2015 to be matched up to $100,000

Lexington residents and Founders of the Community Endowment of Lexington (CEL), Leslie and Colin Masson, have agreed to match, dollar for dollar, all gifts made to the Endowment through the end of the year up to $100,000. “We love Lexington and we chose to live here because of its deep-rooted history of neighbors helping neighbors,” said Leslie Masson. Her husband, Colin added, “This philosophy is what makes Lexington such a great place to live, and keeping this spirit of giving alive is our collective responsibility.”

The Community Endowment of Lexington, an endowed fund of the Foundation for MetroWest, was established in 2013 by Lexington residents as an initiative to provide support for those in need and strengthen their community. CEL supports nonprofits serving Lexington that help make life healthier and more enjoyable for all members of the community in the areas of health and human services, arts and culture, environment and community building. In just two years, CEL has granted more than $50,000 to nine nonprofits including the Lexington Symphony, Special Needs Arts Programs and to organizations preventing teen suicide and relationship violence.

“We are incredibly thankful to Leslie and Colin Masson for their ongoing commitment to CEL, and for them to go above and beyond their yearly giving to offer this challenge is an inspiration to the entire community,” says Leslie Zales, CEL Board Chair. “For them to match each gift made to CEL through the end of the year speaks to their love of Lexington, and we will call upon Lexington residents and businesses to act now.”
