Consider a Career as a Dental Assistant
Minuteman Technical Institute is Accepting Applications
If you’re an adult looking to change careers or to improve your technical skills in your current trade, the Minuteman Technical Institute may be the place for you.
Employment in the Dental Assisting field is expected to grow 25% between 2012-2022. MTI’s ten-month Dental Assisting intensive and highly rigorous program prepares students for positions that may pay $15 to $20 an hour. As important members of the dental health team, dental assistants provide a wide range of clinical skills such as maintaining optimal infection control protocol, manipulation of dental materials, exposing and processing x-rays, giving fluoride treatments, taking impressions, pouring models, fabricating temporary crowns, and making whitening trays. Administrative duties dental assistants typically perform include inventory control, record keeping and office procedures.
Minuteman Technical Institute’s applicants come from a variety of educational backgrounds – some earned a high school diploma, others have a GED, associate’s or college degree – but are attracted to the program for similar reasons. In a recent survey, many students cited the program’s short duration, the hands-on aspect of the curriculum, the excellence of the instructors, and the exciting job prospects that will be available to them upon finishing the program. Programs follow the school calendar, running September through June, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 am – 2:30 pm.
