Consider a Career as a Plumber

Minuteman Community Education is starting Plumbing Tier I program this September, for registered apprentices who are looking to gain licensure as a plumber. The class will follow the State curriculum and will prepare students to sit for the Massachusetts State Exam for the Journeyman Plumbing License. Classes will meet for the required 110 hours, plus approximately 20 hours of review. If you’re an adult looking to change careers or start a career, consider plumbing.

Employment in the Plumbing field is expected to grow 21% from 2012-2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Construction of buildings and the need for new septic systems are expected to drive demand for workers. Plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters work in factories, homes, businesses, and other places where there are pipes or septic systems. They have a higher rate of injuries and illnesses than the national average. Plumbers are often on call for emergencies, so evening and weekend work is common.

Students in the Plumbing Tier program must hold a current apprentice card. This class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, beginning September 15th. For more information and to register, go to www.MinutemanCE.org or call 781-861-7150.
