Town Election: A Guide to Election Day in Lexington (UPDATED 4 p.m.)

Updated 4 p.m. -- The voting booths at Cary Hall, home to the polling locations for precincts 1 and 5, were completely empty just before 3 p.m. The good news, however, was that the voter turnout had hit triple digits. With that being said, election workers were not optimistic about hitting 200.
Low turnout was reported throughout the day by voters around town. But this town election did have some chatting about the special state election(s) to come and what the various scenarios might mean in terms of cost and candidates. You can read more about that here.

Lexington's annual Town Election is today, March 4, and the polls are open from 7 a.m. this morning through 8 p.m. tonight.
Among the town's elected offices, the only contested race is for Planning Board, where Lowell Street resident Nancy Corcoran-Ronchetti and Grant Street resident Richard F. McDonough are seeking the one open seat. There are also contested races for Town Meeting membership in some of the town's precincts.
For the Board of Selectmen, current selectmen Chairwoman Deborah Mauger is a candidate for re-election, while Joe Pato is running to replace the retiring George Burnell. On School Committee, both Allesandro Alessandrini and Margaret Coppe, the current chair, are candidates for re-election. Town Moderator Deborah Brown is also seeking re-election to her post.

After the polls close at 8 p.m., there will be a "post-election party" at the Lexington Depot, where many will await results. The party is sponsored by the election campaigns of School Committee candidates Allesandro Alessandrini and Margaret Coppe, and Board of Selectmen candidates Deb Mauger and Joe Pato.
