Minuteman Community Education is starting an Electrical Journeyman class this October, for individuals who already have 300 classroom hours from a technical high school. This course is for the student who is looking to finish the final 300 hours. Classwork is based on National Electrical Code, NFPA-72, and General Laws of Massachusetts. We will cover special occupancies, equipment, emergency standby systems, blueprint reading, motor controls, practical application, load calculations, pipe and raceway fill, lighting, fire alarms, transformers, and the General Laws of Massachusetts.
Employment in the Electrical field is expected to grow 20% from 2012-2022, faster than the average for all occupations. As homes and businesses require more wiring, electricians will be needed to install the necessary components. Electricians with the widest variety of skills should have the best job opportunities.
This class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, beginning October 6th. For more information and to register, go to www.MinutemanCE.org or call 781-861-7150.
