Author Deborah Swiss and Karen Masterson, owner of Nourish Restaurant, have joined forces to raise funds for women’s fistula surgery in Africa. Karen is the founder of This Is My Face, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about women and aging, working on funding fistula repair in African countries, and providing educational opportunities to women in need both here and abroad.
The November 6th fundraising event will feature a talk by Deborah about the remarkable women in The Tin Ticket, focusing on the power of women’s friendship and the ability of one person to make a difference in righting society’s wrongs. Nourish will provide iced tea and hors d’oeuvres; suggested donation $10.00. For every 50 people attending the event, This Is My Face can fund one fistula surgery for an African woman who would otherwise lead life as a social outcast.
