On September 18, Hancock United Church of Christ of Lexington will hold its first Celebration Sunday. The service begins at 10 a.m.
September 18 marks the beginning of Hancock’s new programming year. The church service is an end-of-summer celebration for the past year’s work and a time to launch new projects and activities. The public is invited to learn about the many learning, youth, social and volunteer opportunities Hancock offers outside worship. There will be brief presentations featuring church initiatives such as Feeding 5000, the Hancock Environmental Action Team and spring service trip to help rebuilding efforts in Piedras Negras, Honduras.
Members of the Lexington community who do not wish to attend service can visit the Activities Fair, which starts at 11 a.m. in the church dining room. Those in attendance will learn about opportunities including adult education, youth activities and volunteer work such as helping Rosie’s Place and The Outdoor Church in Cambridge, which serves the homeless.
