The documentary, short-listed for an Oscar nomination, traces the history and motivations behind the controversial pipeline, and examines a host of damaging impacts it poses to the environment and livelihood of the people who live along its route from Alberta Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Following the film there will be a discussion led by Boston Tar Sands activists Marla Marcum, Education Director, Lexington United Methodist Church; Dorian Williams, Brandeis student; and Fran Ludwig, LexGWAC. All three women were arrested in tar sands protests at the White House this summer and attended the recent DC Keystone XL rally in Washington.
