Going to the Promised Land

The Hancock United Church of Christ and the World Fellowship Center are presenting, “The Peregrine Players”, featuring the World Fellowship’s Early Music Week faculty this Sunday, October 30th from 3-6pm. The benefit concert will celebrate the World Fellowship’s 70th anniversary as an intergenerational camp and conference center promoting peace and social justice, through education and dialogue inspired by nature.

The repertoire of music is an eclectic selection from Hassler, Bach, Böhm, Schütz, Scheidt, Nicolai, Palestrina, Mahu, Demorlaye, Paul Simon, and William Billings. Performers include Jane Hershey, Anne Legêne, and Joshua Schreiber Shalem on viola da gamba; Pamela Dellal, mezzo soprano; Jay Rosenberg, lute and recorder; Roy Sansom, recorder; and Larry Wallach, harpsichord, recorder.

“This is a world-class musical feast performed by some of the finest people to ever pluck a string or carry a note,” said World Fellowship co-director Andy Davis. We’re privileged to have them teach early music at World Fellowship, and we’re honored to have them help us celebrate our 70th anniversary.” Following the concert will be drinks, potluck finger foods, and storytelling by Andy Davis.

Donations to benefit the World Fellowship Center will be gratefully accepted. The Hancock United Church of Christ is located at 1912 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA.
