Debuting newly choreographed programs for the 2011-2012 competitive season, the Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams—including the 2011 world bronze medalists and US Figure Skating national champion Haydenettes will kick off their new season Oct. 23 at 6 pm at the Hayden Recreation Centre rink in Lexington, Mass. Teams from beginner to masters levels, skating to music from the hit musicals “Legally Blonde,” “Fame,” “Memphis” and more, will showcase their new programs. Synchronized skating, which combines elements from ice dance and pairs skating into a team performance characterized by speed, intricate formations and challenging footwork, is the fastest growing division of figure skating. The event is free and open to the public.
