Lexington Concerts in the Park: The Metropolitan Wind Symphony

The Metropolitan Wind Symphony will continue their 40th season with 4 Free traditional outdoor Band Concerts on Thursday July 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, at Hastings  Park, Levi Burnell Bandstand, Mass. Ave. and Worthen Road,  Lexington,  MA. MWS Music director Lewis J. Buckley will conduct the varied music programs, which will have something for all tastes.

Selections will include The Harry Potter Symphonic Suite by John Williams, Suite of Old American Dances by Robert Russell Bennett,  Three Dance Episodes from On the Town by Leonard Bernstein, Serenata and Belle of the Balle by Leroy Anderson, The Music Man by Meredith Willson, Beauty and the Beast by Alan Menken, Washington Post, Fairest of the Fair, and Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa, Molly on the Shore by Percy Grainger, Billboard March by John Klohr, Variations on a Shaker Melody by Aaron Copland, Lassus Trombone by Henry Fillmore, American Civil War Fantasy by Jerry Bilik, and Selections from The Lord of the Rings by Johan de Meij. Dorothy Bromage, who is sponsoring the July 7th concert, and Joe Disalvatore, who is sponsoring the July 21st concert, will guest conduct Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever on their nights.  Leslie Hansen, MWS President, will guest conduct Danzon by Leonard Bernstein on July 7. Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and to picnic while enjoying the concerts.  The concerts will be held, weather permitting. http://www.mws-boston.org/events/.
