Come here the story of Dick Proenneke, who in the late 1960s, built his own cabin in the wilderness at the base of the Aleutian Peninsula, in what is now Lake Clark National Park, where he lived alone for the next 30 years. The film is the simple account of the day to day activities he carried out alone, and the chain of nature’s events that kept him company.
The movie is approximately 60 minutes in length and will be followed by refreshments and a group discussion. This program is free, but space is limited. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis.
This film is presented as part of Lexington Reads 2011. This year's theme for Lexington Reads is “Let Nature Be our Teacher." During the month of March, Cary Library will present an array of nature themed programs and activities. For more information, go to http://www.carylibrary.org or stop by Cary Library.
