Lexington Reads 2011: Nature Journaling with Clare Walker Leslie

Again this year, Cary Memorial Library presents Lexington Reads, its annual celebration of books and reading.  This year, the theme for Lexington Reads is “Let Nature Be our Teacher." Throughout the month of March, Cary Library will be presenting an array of nature-themed programs and activities.

On Thursday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m., the library will host professional wildlife artist and educator Clare Walker Leslie, who will speak on the topic of keeping a nature journal. Ms. Leslie will discuss how she got started keeping a nature journal, the benefits of journaling, and how she has journaled in all kinds of locations (from her own backyard to such distant locations as the Arctic and Africa).  She will also provide the ideas, tools, and techniques needed to help you get started in keeping a nature journal of your own.

Clare Walker Leslie lives in Cambridge and is the author of Keeping a Nature Journal: Discover a Whole New Way of Seeing the World Around You and many other books for children and adults. Copies of Ms. Walker’s books will be available for sale and signing following the program.
