And it all hangs in the balance with the proposed 1,170 km (727 mile) pipeline and tanker route running west from the Alberta tar sands to Kitimat on the coast of British Columbia.
Last August, Sunnye traveled to an area the pipeline poses a particular threat to: the Great Bear Rainforest along the Northwestern coast-one of the last wild places on earth that currently has NO tanker traffic. She had the opportunity to meet with many stakeholders including lodge owners, fisherman, First Nations community members, conservationists, and researchers.
