UPDATED: 3 Lexington Students Taken to Hospital After School Bus Crash (VIDEO)

UPDATE: 10:40 a.m.

Three Bridge Elementary School students and a adult female motorist were transported to area hospitals follwing a school bus-involved accident Friday morning on the ramp from Route 2 to Spring Street in Lexington.

The students were transported to Emerson Hospital in Concord, while the woman was taken to Lahey Clinic, a trauma center in Burlington, according to a Lexington Police officer at the scene. The children were tranported as a precautionary measure, and have been reunited with their parents, according to a press release from the Lexington Public Schools.

"All other students have been assessed and evaluated by school staff and Lexington emergency responders," the press release said. "All students are doing fine. Teachers and staff are aware of which students were involved in the incident and are providing support as necessary."

The accident occurred at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, March 1, police said, after a female motorist took an illegal turn on the ramp from Route 2 to Spring Street and was struck by the school bus. The involved bus was #28.

After being struck by the bus, the woman's vehcle, a smaller SUV, then struck an oncoming vehicle as well.

The off-ramp from Route 2 remained open immediately following the accident, but emergency responders diverted traffic from entering or exiting via Spring Street for approximately an hour after the crash.

UPDATE, 9:13 a.m.: According to Lexington Patch editor Patrick Ball, three Lexington students and one female motorist were taken to area hospitals.
