Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Lexington

Up to 4 inches of rain could hit parts of Massachusetts Thursday.

A flash flood watch was issued for Brookline Thursday.

The watch was in effect until 10 p.m., according to the the National Weather Service. Here’s more from NWS:

  • THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...BARNSTABLE... BRISTOL...ESSEX...MIDDLESEX...NORFOLK...PLYMOUTH...SUFFOLK AND WORCESTER UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING
  • BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN WILL IMPACT FAR EASTERN CONNECTICUT...CENTRAL AND EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS...AS WELL AS RHODE ISLAND INTO THE FIRST PART OF THE EVENING. * WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED... WITH LOCALIZED 3 TO 4 INCH AMOUNTS POSSIBLE IN A SHORT TIME. THE MAIN CONCERN IS FOR LOCALIZED SIGNIFICANT URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE STREET FLOODING. THIS HEAVY RAIN AND POTENTIAL FLOODING WILL ALSO COINCIDE WITH THE EVENING RUSH HOUR...SO MOTORISTS SHOULD BE PREPARED.
