A Forum at Youville Place: My Loved One Has Been Diagnosed with Memory Loss. What Do I Do Next?

An informational forum for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Youville Assisted Living will host an informational forum for caregivers of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The event will take place on Saturday, January 17th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Youville Place in Lexington. Three Alzheimer’s disease experts will address some of the challenges caregivers face once a diagnosis is made.

Lesley Adkison, MSN, PhD, RN, Nurse Director of the Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit at McLean Hospital will address the process of accepting the diagnosis and the types of dementia. Joanne Fontaine, RN, BSN, CCM, Geriatric Care Manager/Alzheimer’s Care Consultant and Founder of Pro-Active Eldercare will help participants learn ways to safely support a loved one in the home. Mal Allard, Director of The Courtyard at Youville Place and Founder of Their Real World will discuss options available when a loved one can no longer safely stay in the home.

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the program.
