Gardening Workshop and Spring Fling
Get your gardens ready and celebrate spring with Wright-Locke Farm (Winchester, MA)
Come out to Wright-Locke Farm (Winchester, MA) next weekend for learning and fun on the farmstead. On Saturday, May 7, the Farm hosts its Organic Edible Perennial Gardening and Landscaping Workshop with naturalist John Root from 10:30am - 12 noon in the historic 1827 Barn. Learn how to establish and maintain a variety of perennials, including trees, shrubs, vines, canes, and herbaceous plants, that yield abundant crops of delicious and nutritious food throughout the growing season with minimal care. Instructor and naturalist John Root will also bring a select number of organically-grown perennial plants for purchase alongside Wright-Locke Farm’s organic annual seedlings- a great way to get your garden started for the new season! This workshop is also open to kids ages 8+ with an attending adult.
Also this weekend, the Farm will be celebrating the start of spring on Mother's Day during its annual Spring Fling event, hosted from 1 - 4pm on Sunday, May 8. The event is free and open to the public, and includes live music, a petting zoo, chicken naming, tractor rides, the grand opening of the renovated farm stand, and more. Parking is available at 82 Ridge Street. Please be sure to NOT park along the sidewalk on Ridge Street; additional parking is available at Mullen Field (across the street from the Farm) and Saint Eulalia's Parish (50 Ridge Street).
