Get to Know a Vendor: Swissbäkers

This Swiss bakery makes all of its goods from scratch the midnight before the treats hit the market.

The  has it all: food, drink and produce from all over the Boston area. But with so many vendors out there, it can get hard to keep track. Luckily, we're here to help, with our new feature "Get to Know a Vendor."

Every Tuesday morning through the end of the LFM's season, we'll profile one vendor appearing at the market that week. Be sure to let us know your thoughts or suggestions in the comments, and maybe your favorite vendor will be our next subject.

The Scoop: If you're looking for American foods, like muffins and scones, Swissbäkers is not the right place. But if you're seeking fresh all-natural pastries, like the "mini swirl," a Swiss version of a cinnamon roll, or the "Berliner," a pastry filled with raspberry jam or chocolate ganache and then smothered in powdered sugar, Swissbäkers is the place to be.

Swissbäkers (note the German "umlaut") is the brainchild of Helene and Thomas Stohr, who come from German-speaking families. Even the servers know German -- these guys are the real deal.

Everything Swissbäkers has on sale goes into the oven the midnight before it hits the market, and the leftovers never get resold. That is, if there are any leftovers.
