The Hammond Performing Arts Series Presents Yevgeny Kutik, Julian Schwartz, and Marika Bournali

Internationally-Recognized Musicians to Perform at Follen Community Church

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (January 4, 2016) - Saul Cohen, President of Hammond Residential Real Estate in Chestnut Hill, is pleased to announce that violinist Yevgeny Kutik, cellist Julian Schwartz, and pianist Marika Bournaki will be performing works by Stravinsky, Beethoven, Ravel, and Brahms as part of the Hammond Performing Arts Series. The concert will take place on Sunday, January 10 at 3 p.m. at Follen Community Church, 755 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington. Admission is complimentary.

Russian-American violinist Yevgeny Kutik has captivated audiences worldwide with an old-world sound that communicates a modern intellect. Praised for his technical precision and virtuosity, he is also lauded for his poetic and imaginative interpretations of both standard works and rarely-heard repertoire. The New York Times has commented on his “old-fashioned rhapsodic style...magnified by [his] rich, sweet tone.” Kutik’s second album, “Music from the Suitcase: A Collection of Russian Miniatures,” was released by Marquis Classics in early 2014 and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard classical chart. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and a master’s degree from New England Conservatory and currently resides in Boston.

Born in Seattle into a musical family, cellist Julian Schwartz is already being recognized as a cellist destined to rank among the finest of the 21st century. He was awarded first prize in the professional cello division of the inaugural Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition in Hong Kong in August, 2013. He made his orchestral debut at age 11 playing the Saint-Saens Concerto No. 1 with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra with his father, Gerard Schwartz, on the podium. Since then, he has appeared with the Seattle, San Diego, Puerto Rico, Columbus (Ohio), Syracuse, Virginia, Sarasota, Grand Rapids, Omaha, Wichita, and Modesto symphonies, among others. In August, 2012, he recorded the Samuel Jones Cello Concerto, which was written for him, with the newly formed All-Star Orchestra, founded by Gerard Schwartz. He currently performs on a cello made in Naples by Gennaro Gagliano in 1743.
