To date, LEF has funded more than 300 grants totaling $4.6 million in support of pilot curricula, new teaching materials, the introduction of new technologies in the classroom, professional learning opportunities, and projects to build strong school communities. All grants are teacher-initiated and in alignment with the vision and priorities of the Lexington Public Schools. “As we face growing challenges locally and globally, our teachers, staff and students need all the support our community can give to help provide an engaging, caring K-12 educational journey.

LEF was founded in 1989 to serve as the vehicle by which Lexington’s residents and businesses could contribute to the excellence of Lexington’s public schools by funding educational opportunities that fall outside the school system’s operating budget.
