A homeless kitten was rescued in Dorchester last week after its paws became frozen to a metal fence.
A Good Samaritan heard the kitten’s cries, used warm water to free the animal, and transported it to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Boston.
“This little guy was extremely lucky to have a kind stranger step in and help because his situation rendered him defenseless against the cold and predators,” said Dr. Meagan Rock, of the MSPCA, in a statement. “And by the time he got to us he was hypothermic and his legs were swollen.”

The kitten, named “Ralphie,” was expected to make a full recovery. The MSPCA said he will be neutered, immunized, and microchipped before being put up for adoption.
