Lecture: Making and Marketing Furniture in Massachusetts, 1790-1820
A free lecture on furniture making in Massachusetts by Professor Emeritus Brock Jobe.

Join us March 19 at 2:00 PM for the lecture “Making and Marketing Furniture in Massachusetts, 1790-1820” by Brock Jobe, Professor Emeritus of American Decorative Arts at Winterthur Museum.
Professor Jobe, will discuss how rural Massachusetts craftsmen developed business strategies that promoted their products to a range of customers. During the early 1800s, these strategies changed the face of furniture-making in the Bay State, leading eventually to an industry that ranked among the largest in the country. Join Professor Jobe as he recounts the little-known story of the transformation of a trade and highlights the products of that trade.
Presented free of charge thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Ruby W. and LaVon P. Linn Foundation. Part of the Enterprise and Craft in the Young Nation Series. Check out our website for more upcoming events at http://www.monh.org/programs/upcoming-programs/
