Lexington 10-Year-Olds Sell Lemonade for Breast Cancer

Lexington 4th Graders Sell Lemonade to Raise Money for Breast Cancer

Shannon O'Leary, a Lexington 4th grader, created The Shanny Foundation to raise money for charity. For Christmas, while other children received gifts for themselves, Shanny received specially designed signs, hats and a web domain (which is under construction: www.theshannyfoundation.org) to help her sell lemonade to raise money to help others.

On April 29th at Emery Park on Massachusetts Ave in downtown Lexington, Shanny and her friends; Tessa, Caitlin, Emma and Carmen mixed lemonade, dragged coolers, ice, and a table with chairs and began selling lemonade. Two hours later, their goal of $72 dollars was exceeded and Shanny and her friends raised over $100 for Breast Cancer.

A special thanks goes to Caitlin (the voice), Tessa, Emma, and Carmen for their help. Thank you to the Lexington town manager and health services for their help with permits. And a very special thanks to those who stopped by to donate, especially those donors who already had a drink in their hands but wanted to contribute.
