Lexington Community Education presents an Evening with Dr. Robert Brooks

Dr. Robert Brooks will discuss Raising Resilient Children & Adolescents on Thursday, October 8th.

Dr. Brooks will discuss factors that help children and adolescents deal with stress and pressure and become increasingly resilient. He will describe why some children from birth have a more difficult time developing a positive self-image and becoming resilient than other children, the importance of empathy in understanding and responding to our children, the need to identify and reinforce each youngster’s “islands of competence.” and specific strategies for nurturing caring, responsibility, self-discipline, hope, and resilience in children and adolescents.

Dr. Robert Brooks has lectured nationally and internationally and has written extensively and is the author or co-author of 15 books. Dr. Brooks is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and has served as Director of the Department of Psychology at McLean Hospital. He has appeared regularly on television shows in the Boston area as well as on national television. Dr. Brooks received a Gubernatorial Award for Distinguished Public Service for his work with the Governor’s Alliance Against Drugs.
