Lexington Community Education presents The Passion of Gerard Manley Hopkins performed by Poet Tom Daley
In His Ecstasy: The Passion of Gerard Manley Hopkins-A One-Person Play performed by Poet Tom Daley Sunday, October 19th, 3:00pm to 4:00pm

The 19th century English Jesuit poet Gerard Manley Hopkins’s unusual imagination and experiments in rhythm and syntax have had a tremendous influence on the direction of modern poetry. In the play “In His Ecstasy: The Passion of Gerard Manley Hopkins,” the 19th century Jesuit poet-priest returns from beyond the grave to visit a twenty-first poetry-reading group at a parish he once served in Liverpool, England. He engages in conversation with the readers about his famously difficult yet passionate poetry.
Tom Daley leads writing workshops and classes on the poetry of individual poets at Lexington Community Education, a poetry writing workshop at the Boston Center for Adult Education, and serves on the faculty of the Online School of Poetry. His poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in a number of journals. In addition to the play, In His Ecstasy: The Passion of Gerard Manley Hopkins, he is the author of Every Broom and Bridget: Emily Dickinson and Her Irish Servants. He performs both plays as one-man shows. His first full-length book of poems, House You Cannot Reach, will be published by FutureCycle Press in 2015.
The event will be held at the Follen Church Society, 755 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington. The cost is $10.00 Pre-registration required. To register, using a VISA or MasterCard, please contact Lexington Community Education at 781 862 8043.
