Lexington Curbside Collection To Start Up Again
Simple Recycling is back to offer curbside textile recycling in Lexington.
LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington residents sifting through their closets for some spring cleaning can recycle those old t-shirts and jeans. The town announced on Tuesday that Simple Recycling is back to offer curbside textile recycling.
There are several for-profit companies that will recycle your clothing, cloth items, other textiles, and shoes. All the materials are graded and sorted. The top quality materials will be resold to local thrift outlets, mid grade is exported to international markets and “unusable” items are recycled into raw materials. Simple Recycling pays Lexington $20 per ton of collected material to recycle the textiles.
How it works:
- You'll receive special pink bags in the mail.
- Fill the pink bags with any clothing, other cloth items or shoes you want to get rid of.
- Put them out next to your recycling bin on your normal trash pickup day and Simple Recycling will pick them up and leave more bags for you.
- If you run out of bags, simply fill out this form online, and they'll drop off bags to your house
- If they happen to miss picking up your pink bags, let Simple Recycling know, and they'll pick them up.
