Lexington Fire Dept. Assistant Fire Chief Sworn In
Ceremony held at the Town Office Building March 9 to swear in John Fleck.
In a ceremony at the on Wednesday afternoon, John Fleck was sworn in as Assistant Fire Chief.
Fleck, who started with Lexington on Jan. 17, was officially sworn in by Town Clerk Donna Hooper. Fire Chief Bill Middlemiss, members of the Board of Selectmen, Town Manager Carl Valente and other town officials and employees attended the swearing in ceremony.
Fleck, a Lunenberg resident, joins the Lexington Fire Dept. after 6 1/2 years as fire chief in Lancaster. He spent five years as a state fire marshal, and began his career as a firefighter in Westminster.

Fleck said he is excited to join a larger department.
“It has a reputation as a good department,” he said. “It was a good fit for my career, to bring my skills here.”

Middlemiss said he’s looking forward to working with Fleck for a number of years to come.
“John has already stepped up to the plate in a number of areas,” he said.
Valente and Manz also welcomed Fleck to Lexington, calling him a positive addition to the fire department.
