Lexington Police Caution Residents of IRS Scam

The Lexington Police cautioned residents of the scam via its Facebook Account.

LEXINGTON, MA—The Lexington Police Department has cautioned residents regarding potential scamming phone calls from the Internal Revenue Service Thursday.

Police reported through its Facebook account that many residents had received phone calls from someone claiming that they were from the IRS. Their message stated that the IRS only sends postal mail to contact individuals.

The Lexington Police Department was not immediately available to comment on the nature of the scams. Check back with Patch for updates.
