Officer James Barry III joins his father on the force, Lt. James Barry jr.
LEXINGTON, MA — The Lexington Police Department welcomed a new officer onto the force on Thursday. Officer James Barry III joins the department alongside his father, Lt. James Barry jr.
Barry was sworn in by the assistant town clerk and pinned by his mother. HIs father was also present for the ceremony, wearing his own police uniform.
Barry has been ready to follow his father's footsteps for some time — he was a cadet with the department for five years. He recently completed the academy after sponsoring himself. Now, he has the full support of the Lexington Police Department as he starts his career. The department published a message on Facebook saying, "We wish him a long and safe career."
