Lexington Police Warn About Amazon Scam Ahead Of Holiday Shopping
Lexington police are warning residents to think twice before they respond to an email that looks like it's from Amazon.
LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington police are warning residents about an old scam that's resurfaced, just in time for the holidays. The Amazon scam targets Amazon users and tries to get users to divulge their account information.
Police said the scam comes in the form of an email, disguised to look like an Amazon email. The email advises users that there may be a potential issue with their order and gives instructions to click on a link.
Police said the link is the key to the scam and routes users to a fake site, also disguised to look like the Amazon site, and asks for details about the account. Once the scammer has all of the users account information, they can use it as they wish.
