Founder Bill Cummings presents Rahman Mehra with a commemorative captain's chair

Scientific Systems Company, Inc. (SSCI), owned by Lexington resident Rahman Mehra, recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary at Cummings Properties. The Woburn-based commercial real estate firm’s founder Bill Cummings joined Account Manager Kara Murphy to present a commemorative captain’s chair to Mehra to thank him for SSCI’s tenancy.

Scientific Systems Company is a family-owned and -operated business started in Cambridge 40 years ago by CEO and Harvard University graduate Mehra. His son, Kunal, is senior vice president of strategy and market development.

The firm’s primary focus is portable software applications, integrated technologies, and turnkey solutions to solve today’s most challenging engineering problems for its defense and industrial customers. It is currently working on drone technology.

The fact that Bill Cummings participated in the chair delivery came as no surprise to the Scientific Systems team. Pat Kelly, director of admin and security for Scientific Systems, has seen Cummings pull up beside a client whose car was covered in snow, pull out a shovel, and “get straight to work. He would be willing to help anybody at any time,” she said.

Cummings Properties has delivered more than seventy 20-year chairs to clients to date. Its 10 million square feet of prime space in 10 metropolitan Boston communities accommodates offices, healthcare facilities, laboratories, retail storefronts, warehouses, co-working spaces, executive suites, and more. With a portfolio of this size and variety, the firm can meet almost any commercial real estate need from 150 square feet to 300,000 square feet. Its in-house experts in design, construction, and property management offer “one-stop shopping” for leasing clients.
