LEXINGTON RESIDENT WINS ORAL ADVOCATE AWARD AT MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION

Alison Britton, a student at Massachusetts School of Law (MSL) in Andover, MA and a resident of Lexington, MA, won the Best Oral Advocate Award at the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition for the Northeast Region of the National Black Law Students Association. 

She was a member of MSL’s Trial Advocacy Team that, for the fifth year in a row, will compete for the National Championship.  MSL was edged out by Harvard, which won the competition by a single point.

On multiple occasions, MSL student advocates have won the Best Oral Advocate Award of the competition in which they competed.

Said Britton, “As a result of being on MSL’s Mock Trial team, I have improved my public speaking skills and my ability to problem-solve.  I also witnessed on a daily basis the dedication that MSL student have to reaching a common goal.  I give a lot of credit to encouragement from my teammates and coaches.”

While attending MSL, Britton has interned at the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.  Upon graduating, she plans to become a member of the Massachusetts Bar and would like to work at a small or mid-size firm, in one of the District Attorney’s offices, or as a public defender.
