Lexington's Marmier Runs Boston Marathon to Raise Money for Robin

Funds help M-CM Network create a database for children like Pascal Marmier's nephew, Robin, who are affected by M-CM.

The Boston Marathon can be an uphill battle for both its runners and the causes they’re running to support.

Monday won’t be the first time he’s taken on the Boston Marathon, but it might be the biggest challenge yet for Lexington resident Pascal Marmier, a nine-time marathoner who completed the course in r.

“Oh by far, there is a very emotional part to it,” said Marmier, who is preparing to “Run for Robin,” his 1-year-old nephew who was born with Macrocephaly-capillary malformation syndrome.

The syndrome, also known as M-CM, is a rare genetic syndrome that results in a range of abnormalities including brain and body growth. Robin is known for being full of energy, charm and smiles, but friends and family are not sure what the years to come will hold because so little is known about this rare syndrome.

Marmier is collecting funds via his Razoo donation page as he prepares to take on the Boston Marathon and "Run for Robin.” The proceeds will help the M-CM Network create a database to collect medical information about patients. This is an important step in advancing diagnostics and treatment for MC-M and enhancing the lives of children like Robin.

For Marmier, this 116th Boston Marathon is personal for a few reasons. First and foremost it’s that he’s running to support his nephew, but second to that is his family is leaving the Lexington community this summer.

"The marathon has been my athletic highlight of the last decade," Marmier said, "And I think I won't be doing it again very soon."
