Lexington Students Featured in CYT's "The Elves & the Shoemaker"

CYT's Junior Company presents "The Elves & the Shoemaker," 12/3-6, 2015 at 358 Baker Ave. - www.concordyouththeatre.org; 978-371-1482.

CONCORD, MA: Something strange is happening at Concord Youth Theatre! It seems that when most others are asleep, someone (or someone’s) is just beginning their work in the Junior Company production of “The Elves & the Shoemaker,” running December 3-6, 2015, Thursday at 5:00pm; Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm; Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. Tickets are $13 each and may be purchased online at www.concordyouththeatre.org or by calling the CYT box office at 978-371-1482. The performance is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Shoemaker Lockhart Cobblestone has a kind heart but little money in his pocket. Moved by the plight of an old beggar woman, he gives her his last pair of shoes. Poor Lockhart has leather enough to make only one more pair of shoes and sets it out to work on them the next morning. Unbeknownst to Lockhart while he sleeps, out pop endearing little elves who whip up the most fantastic and magical shoes the town of Clankbottom has ever seen… and the fun begins.

Under the direction of JulieAnn Govang, with music direction by Jane Raithel and choreography by Julia Lasker, “The Elves & the Shoemaker” is an upbeat, fast-paced retelling of an old favorite, filled with delightfully wacky characters and clever dialogue. This upbeat, whimsical romp also holds a gentle message about the nature of kindness. The 24-actor cast includes Lexington students Sarah Bellaiche, Ezra Rudenko, Tressa Pichulo and Alma Orgad, as well as young people (Grades 3-5) from Acton, Ayer, Bedford, Belmont, Carlisle, Concord,, Maynard and Westford.
