Lexington Symphony's Concert in the Round

Lexington Symphony offers a unique perspective on the orchestra at its Concert in the Round, the final performance of the Symphony’s 2013–2014 season. Situated in a circle formation in the middle of Cary Hall, the Symphony will present a lineup of musical pieces selected and performed by individual string, woodwind, and brass ensembles from the orchestra. Inspired by its mission emphasizing classical music and community, Lexington Symphony devised its Concert in the Round program with an eye toward eliminating the traditional boundaries between orchestra and audience members, who will be allowed to change seats — and even sit right in the middle of the orchestra — during this performance, which is sponsored by The Sonin Fund. Featured at this informal, summer evening concert will be Vivaldi’s Concerto for 4 Violins; Stravinsky’s Octet for Wind Instruments; Somers’s Suite for Harp and Chamber Orchestra; Gerber’s Lullaby for Jenny; Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro for Harp, Flute, and Clarinet; and Dahl’s Choral Fantasy. Pre-concert Q&A at 6:00 p.m. with Music Director Jonathan McPhee and orchestra musicians. Concert in the Round seating is unreserved. Tickets, which are priced at $40 for adults and $15 for students, can be purchased online at www.lexingtonsymphony.org, by phone at 781-523-9009, or at the door.
