Lexington Town Meeting Approves Pelham Rd. Purchase
During the final session of Lexington Town Meeting, an $8 million appropriation to pursue the purchase of 20 Pelham Rd. passed.

LEXINGTON, MA—Town Meeting voted to appropriate the $8 million necessary to pursue the purchase of 20 Pelham Rd. during its final session Monday.
Lexington Town Meeting voted 130-26 during the final session of Town Meeting to appropriate the funds needed to pursue the purchase of the former Armenian Sisters School. When the announcements of the plans to pursue the purchase were announced, Joseph Pato, the Chairman of Lexington's Board of Selectmen told Patch that a specific set of uses for the building have yet to be determined.
The building at 20 Pelham Rd. is directly adjacent to the Lexington Community Center.

According to the statement made at Town Meeting when the pursuit of the purchase was announced, the motion for the acquisition will also include the authority for the town to obtain the property under an eminent domain taking, although the Selectmen are hopeful that a deal will be negotiated with the Armenian Sisters School.
