Make a Plan For your Student For the SAT/ACT
Every junior-to-be needs to plan for his or her SAT and/or ACT preparation. The summer before junior year is the ideal time to take a class.
The SAT and/or ACT is the near mandatory rite-of-passage for every high school student who desires to matriculate to college or university. Therefore, every parent of a high school student really needs to develop a plan which will enable his or her student to create the best possible resume for that highly competitive college. This fact begs several questions. The first question is: “when is the best time to start preparing for the test”. The best time is the summer between sophomore and junior years because this allows the student to devote his or her total attention to learning how to take the test. The second question is: “which is better, a group class or one-on-one tutoring”. The answer to that question depends on the student, the student’s schedule and the family’s finances. A group class will undoubtedly cost less than weekly or semi-weekly individual sessions with a highly skilled tutor. The key, however, is simply beginning. Investigate all of your options and set up a plan which accommodates the family vacation, any summer employment or internship, athletic training and of course a social life. While college is important, a well rounded student is even more so.
