Memorial 5K for Lexington Boy Quinn Amsler Announced

Here's what you need to know about the memorial 5k run for Lexington boy Quinn Amsler who died of cancer in July.

LEXINGTON, MA — A memorial 5k run for a Lexington boy who lost his battle with cancer in July has been announced at Bridge Elementary School.

Quinn Amsler, who was a rising fourth grader at Bridge, passed away from cancer on July 3 at the age of 9. Proceeds from the 5k will be donated to the Quinn Amsler Memorial Fund at Lexington High School.

The race will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 24 at Bridge, located at 55 Middleby Rd. off of Lincoln Street.

Amsler also stared his own charity, where he collected toys for children. There will be "Quinn Bins" present at the race, and event-goers are asked to donate an unwrapped toy.

Number pick-up is available at Bridge Elementary School at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up on the following dates and times.

Sept. 21: 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Sept. 23: 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.

Sept 24: Race day pickup starts at 8:45 a.m.

There will be a post-race picnic after the race on the school playing fields. Teachers and volunteers will be hosting a children's fun run and other activities on school grounds.
