Adapted from the Broadway production that won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Hairspray JR. is a show that celebrates diversity and brings audiences to their feet with its positive message, 1960s-style dance music, and uproarious sense of humor.
It's 1962, and spunky, plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has one big dream – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When she finally gets her shot, she's transformed from social outcast to sudden star. Along the way, she joins new and diverse friends in her quest to integrate Baltimore television and change the world!
Directed by Arlington resident Michele Clifford with musical direction by Tim Maurice, the production features two casts of nearly 80 local students from 12 surrounding communities.
